These covered jars were first introduced by Indiana Glass as a Candy Jar. It was not until years later that the medium and large canisters were added to the Harvest line to make a three canister set.
The candy jar measures 7 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches across the uncovered top. This was a BIG seller for Indiana Glass. You could buy this jar just about anywhere for 99 cents, even Safeway offered them. Many thousands of these were sold and they are still very plentiful today. They are frequently offered on the internet, antiques stores and flea markets as humidors, biscuits jars or the small canister. Very seldom are they referred to by their original name, Candy Jars.
These were made in all three of the carnival colors, blue, lime green and gold carnival glass.
