Indiana Glass History

Garland - 1935
Garland - 1935

Indiana Glass pattern number 301, known as the Garland pattern.  This pattern was introduced in 1935.  The Garland pattern is very similar to and often mistaken for the Westmoreland Della Robbia pattern. The Indiana Garland and the Westmoreland Della Robbia Patterns are both multi-fruit patterns.  The Garland pattern has bananas, the Della Robbia pattern does not.  Please see the special note below.

YES, the Garland pattern has been reproduced!

This Oval Center Bowl is probably one of the most well known glass items in the history of 20th Century glass. Indiana Glass made this center bowl for about 70 years.  It was made in a wide variety of different colors and often associated with the Harvest pattern.  If you own one of these (and half of America does), shhhhhhhhh, don't break it's little glass heart.  Don't tell the poor thing it is not part of the Harvest pattern. But just between you and me, it is NOT Harvest, it is GARLAND.
